PEOPLE turned out in their hundreds at a special service in Nelson to remember the fallen in conflict and mark the 100th anniversary of the Armistice which ended the First World War.
Civic dignitaries joined military families and ordinary citizens in wreath-laying ceremonies at war memorials at 11am across East Lancashire with the traditional two minutes silence to respect those who lost their lives in two World Wars and other conflicts around the globe since.
Here are some of the best pictures from Nelson’s service, which started at the Innovation Centre, in Brunswick Street.
There was a parade to the war memorial for a Service of Remembrance and wreath-laying at 2pm.
After the service the parade re-formed and proceeded to Nelson Cricket Club.
