A MAN seen trying door handles ran into the home of an elderly couple when he found their door was unlocked.
Blackburn magistrates heard police removed Jan Clough from the property and he became abusive towards members of the public who said he had been trying their door handles.
Clough, 34, of Bridge Street, Rishton, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in Livesey Street, Rishton. He was fined £50 with £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge.
Clough, who was not represented, said he was being chased down the street by people with bats and knives. There was nothing I could do except get into someone’s house,” he said.
