Fancy seeing 300 Father Christmases dashing through through the streets of Great Harwood?

Well next month, you'll be able to do just that, as ex-rugby player, Mickii Edwards, is organising a sponsored Santa Dash to raise money for families in need.

The former St Helen's star, who lives in Great Harwood, said: "There's lots of people in need at Christmas and we work with local agencies to help these people out.

"We do around 200 hampers and provide toys to families in need every year and this year we are trying to raise even more."

The event, which will be the very first of its kind to take place in Great Harwood, will go ahead on Saturday December 15 at 7pm.

Mr Edwards expects over 300 people to turn up dressed as Saint Nick to participate in the 3.5km run from the car park of The Spice Lounge at the junction of Blackburn Old Road to Tipsy Cows cheese and wine shop on Church Street.

The 44-year-old, who has raised over £700,000 for charity in the last ten years, added: "No child should wake up on Christmas Day without a present to open."
