YOGA with a twist has come to a town.
While yoga may usually be done on a mat, chair yoga is being taught Darwen.
It is suitable for those who aren’t confident using a mat to practice and instead have the support of a chair.
Chair yoga can also be good for those who have mobility issues.
Laura Barrett is the founder of Darwen based Budding Rose Yoga and teaches chair yoga sessions in the town.
Laura, who travelled to Goa in India to further her studies in yoga which is a group of physical, mental, and spiritual practices or disciplines, said: “Lots of people have asked me about this gentle form of yoga so I decided to set up a class recently in the heart of the community, in my home town.”
Laura added: “Over the weeks I will be introducing a variety of yoga postures to help those attending, gain strength and flexibility, along with breathing and relaxation techniques.
“The class will be made up of people of all ages and abilities.
Chair Yoga will take place on Fridays from 11.30am to 12.30pm at Darwen United Reformed Church on Duckworth Street.
