FINAL preparations are being made for the Blackburn Remembers concert at the cathedral on Saturday.
Under new conductor Abi Kitching, Blackburn Musical Society is behind the Armistice centenary commemoration event, The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace, from 7pm. Tickets are £14 on the door.
The mass, composed by Karl Jenkins in 1999, involves music from all traditions and cultures.
Blackburn and Darwen Band and Salesbury School Chamber Choir will also feature, performing Sibelius' Finlandia and a medley of First World War songs.
Society chairman Joy Fielding said: "It is hard to imagine a more fitting, respectful yet ultimately life-affirming way to bring to a close our area's five years of First World War commemorations."
