FIREFIGHTERS were alerted last nigh after a bonfire in Hyndburn threatened get out of control.
High winds affected the privately-organised event in Norfolk Grove, Church, just after teatime.
A spokesman for Hyndburn fire station said that the crews remained there for half an hour to ensure the safety of visitors.
The fire was extinguished using a hosereel jet, just after 6pm, and no-one was hurt.
