Decorated lanterns lit up a town as the light up the valley parade made its way through crowds of gatherers with all kinds of colourful designs.

Saturday October 27 saw the lantern procession in Stacksteads, Rossendale, take place through the Riverside Park as street band Blowjangles provided the music. Organised by Stacksteads Countryside Park Group, the event was attended by Rossendale Mayor, Cllr Ann Kenyon, who hailed it a delight.

Eleven-year-old Ollie Shipley was delighted to have recreated her dad’s shop in Stacksteads. She said: "It took me about a month to make. I came to the workshops and then took everything away and made it at home."

SCPG Chair Susan Hayhurst said: "The lanterns that the children made were just really lovely, to their own designs and what they wanted to make. You can tell they have put their little hearts into making them."
