A MAN walked into a Bacup store, selected two bottles of red wine and smashed them on the floor.
Blackburn magistrates heard Richard Gordon Ashworth returned to the same store less than two hours later and this time left without paying for two sandwiches and another two bottles of red wine.
Ashworth, 38, of Brown Street, Bacup, pleaded guilty to shoplifting and criminal damage.
He was ordered to pay £40 compensation.
Tracy Yates, prosecuting, said Ashworth was already banned from the shop because of previous incidents.
The court heard Ashworth was known to the mental health services.
