A FLEET of state of the art buses with wireless charging units have been rolled out across East Lancs.

Transdev unveiled their brand new 464 Buses on Sunday (October 28), with 16 of the vehicles taking their debut trips on the Accrington to Rochdale route.

MP for Hyndburn, Graham Jones, was invited to have a look round the new buses by CEO of Transdev, Alex Hornby.

Mr Jones said: "I had the opportunity to look over the new buses this week and what a huge improvement."

The buses, which will operate on the 464 route have comfortable interiors and are equipped with free WiFi, USB ports at every seat and wireless charging units.

Mr Hornby said: "If you forget your lead and your phone is compatible you can charge your phone on the wireless units.

"Sixteen of the buses hit the road on Sunday and we can't wait for people to experience them.

"Payment on the buses is fully contactless too so you can use your contactless credit or debit card and your Apple and Android pay by phone, or you can use the Transdev Go app."

As well as the digital improvements, next-stop announcements have been introduced with a friendly female voice providing information about stops between Accrington and Rochdale.

And feedback on social media has already been positive.

One Twitter user commented: "Great choice for the next stop announcements on 464 - a nice soft, clear voice and truly representative of the local area."

Another user wrote: "Thought this weekend couldn’t get any better, then they drop these beauty's just before the working week."

Transdev have invested nearly £3m into the new buses which will aim to improve services for customers and colleagues on the busiest routes, benefitting the most people and the most communities.
