A MAN who had been smoking cannabis with a friend was stopped by police on his way home.

Blackburn magistrates heard the officers could immediately smell the drug and Jack Thomas Green failed a roadside test.

Green, 28, of Edward Street, Baxenden, pleaded guilty to driving with over the specified level of cannabis. He was fined £200 with £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge and banned from driving for 12 months.

Gareth Price, defending, said when Green was stopped in May his father had recently died and he was under a lot of emotional pressure.

"He had gone to see a friend who suggested they smoke some cannabis," said Mr Price.
