EAST Lancashire householders have been warned of rogue traders cold calling at their homes..

They include drive resurfacers operating in Clitheroe, bogus gardeners in Bacup, and pushy doorstep sellers in the Ribble Valley

Trading standards experts from Lancashire County Council have issued alerts following several reports of suspicious activities over the last month.

They include: traders cold-calling residents in Clitheroe offering to resurface their drives promising a full guarantee; cold-callers offering gardening services in the Bacup area, but leaving after poor-quality or unfinished work with waste left lying around; and doorstep sellers operating in no cold-calling zones along the A59 in the Ribble Valley using aggressive tactics and arguing with potential customers.

Cllr Albert Atkinson, deputy leader of the county council, said: "We'd always advise people never to sign-up for services offered by cold-callers. People should look out for their neighbours and say a polite 'no' at the door when cold-callers knock.
