A group of intrepid explorers have completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks in aid of Nightsafe.

Saddened by the impact of homelessness on young people, members of the Clitheroe Scouts Smiley Explorers decided to tackle the Peaks to raise awareness of the problem.

Two teams of seven (including five leaders) took on the challenge on Sunday October 14 and raised over £600 for the Blackburn charity.

And among the first to finish the 24 mile trek were Joel Whitfield, Ben Turner, Paul Hopkins and Caleb Brown, all pictured.

The group completed the whole route in approximately 10.5 hours.

Scout leader, Alan Whitfield said: "The teamwork was excellent and everyone was determined to finish despite the blisters."

Nightsafe is a homeless charity based in Blackburn with Darwen that provides a variety of services to homeless young people aged 16 to 24.

District Explorer Commissioner, Jan Whitfield, added: "We’re really proud of our young people working to make a difference and achieve some of the top awards in Scouting along the way."
