A WOMAN was watching TV late at night when her bedroom door burst open and her ex-partner stormed in.
Blackburn magistrates heard when she threatened to call the police Emile Nicol grabbed her phone and smashed it against the wall.
When she shouted for her teenage daughter he slapped her and then punched her to the side of the face.
Nicol, 21, of Ivinson Road, Darwen, pleaded guilty to assault and criminal damage.
He was made subject to a community order for 15 months with 20 days rehabilitation activity requirement and 12 hours attendance centre.
He was ordered to pay £120 compensation and made subject of a restraining order.
Damian Pickup, defending, said his client accepted the prosecution case in relation to the assault and the damage but not the build up to the incident.
"He says there was two way contact between them and she invited him round," said Mr Pickup.
"An argument ensued because he is seeing someone else and the aggrieved had sent her a message calling him a wife beater."
