MEMBERS of the public have been invited to hear an update on moves to re-instate a trans-Pennine rail link next month.

The will be an open meeting of the Skipton-East Lancashire Rail Action Partnership(SELRAP) at Herriots Hotel, Broughton Road, Skipton Monday November 12.

This campaign group’s media officer Jane Wood said: "Members of the public are very welcome to come along and hear about their work which has included a recent very positive Project Development Meeting attended by representatives from business, local government and the rail industry."

SELRAP, which now has 521 individual members,hopes to get the long-closed Colne to Skipton rail line re-opened linking Blackburn, Burnley, Accrington and Preston to West Yorkshire.

Last month a meeting in Parliament attended by Keighley Labour MP John Grogan, and Pendle Conservative MP Andrew Stephenson heard how the government was working on a business case for reinstating the route, initially for freight.
