A FOOD bank collection has been organised by a football club to support a community charity.

Accrington Stanley Football Club will host a food bank collection on Saturday October 27 at 12.30pm till 3pm. Community members are urged to bring either tins of food or dried food items to the grounds, as the donations will go to the Maundy Relief charity.

Maundy Relief are a Hyndburn charity, who are known to help those in need when they do not have anyone else.This includes help with physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health.

Collected food items will be transferred to Maundy Relief's drop in centre on Charter Street, Accrington. All the items will be put in food parcels to be distributed to community members that need them.

Maundy Relief Patron, Julie Hesmondhalgh, said: "I am over the moon that in these difficult times, and as winter draws in, that the wonderful gang at Accrington Stanley have teamed with our good friends at Scott Dawson Advertising to collect much needed supplies for the food bank at Maundy Relief."

Other suggested items to bring include, tinned vegetables, tinned beans, instant mash, powdered milk, cereal, and nuts.
