A DRIVER caused extensive damage to three cars on the same street.

At around 11.10pm on Monday police were called to reports a car had collided with multiple vehicles in a street in Knuzden.

Attending the scene in Mount St James, police arrested a 45-year-old man from Blackburn on suspicion of drink driving.

An eye witnesses said: “The driver collided with a black Golf on the opposite side of the road, reversed, then continued down the street, crashed into a silver car, reversed again, and then smashed into a black Audi.

“He then attempted to reverse and leave the scene but was unable to do so.

“The police were called and they breathalysed him."

A resident whose car was hit in the incident said they were woken up to a loud crash, the sound of their car alarm going off, and an engine revving.

They said: “As I looked out of the window he was attempting to reverse his car back out into the road.

“I went outside and all the neighbours were on the street and had rang the police.

“He started to become erratic and tried to escape the car but some of the neighbours took the keys off him and had to hold the doors shut to so he didn’t escape.

“All three cars are badly damaged – he’s just lucky he didn’t kill someone.”

A spokesperson for the police said: “We were called on Monday, October 22, to reports of damage on collision to three vehicles, including a silver Suzuki, a black Volkswagen and a black Audi.

“We attended the scene and a 45-year-old man from Blackburn was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.”
