Rovers Ladies progressed to the third round of the Mercure Dunkenhalgh Challenge Cup with an emphatic 14-0 victory over Morecambe Ladies at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium.

Natasha Flint and Saffron Jordan both netted four in the rout, the latter on her 100th appearance for the club.

The opening goal did not come until the 18th minute, when Jordan won a penalty, converted by captain Lynda Shepherd.

The second came soon after - Flint finishingoff a great passing move from close range, getting on the end of a low cross from Jordan.

It was three when Lagan Makin made no mistake from inside the box, striking a left-footed shot into the bottom corner.

A clinical finish from Jordan started her tally for the day, combining with Flint again, who chipped the ball into her path for the striker to finish.

It was Flint’s turn to score and make it 5-0 when she chested the ball down and found the bottom corner with a left-footed half volley.

Makin bagged her brace on the stroke of half-time as the winger lobbed McTague from the edge of the box with the outside of her left foot.

It was more of the same after the break from Rovers, who were clinical in front of goal. Eve Kennerley marked her first Rovers start with her first goal, shifting the ball onto her right foot and unleashing a powerful strike that flew into the top corner.

Rovers scored two in a minute as Flint squared the ball to Jordan, who coolly finished past the onrushing ‘keeper.

It was that same combination that helped Jordan grab her hat-trick. Flint once again setting up her strike partner to score a third.

The Blues made it 10-0 on the hour mark. Flint’s solo run was finished off by an equally impressive strike to get her own hat-trick.

Flint had her fourth soon after, poaching on Jordan’s saved shot to follow up and tap the ball home.

Her strike partner Jordan also scored for a fourth time when she picked the ball up on the edge of the area and found the back of the net.

Jess Holbrook got her name on the score sheet, making no mistake from close range after Jordan’s initial shot was parried into the midfielder’s path.

Kayleigh McDonald rounded off the scoring, firing the ball into the roof of the net from Natasha Fenton’s cross to make it 14-0.

Rovers Ladies turn their attention back to the league on Sunday, when they face Stoke City Ladies at home (2pm).
