YOUNG bakers helped to raise more than £2,000 for charity.

Students and members of staff at five different Pendle Education Trust academies helped to raise over £2,100 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Family, friends and the local community were invited to events at Colne Primet Academy, Castercliff Primary Academy, Pendle Primary Academy and West Craven High School to enjoy a coffee morning with staff and students while Casterton Primary Academy coincided their fundraising event with a party to celebrate joining the multi-academy trust.

Anita Ghidotti, chief executive of Pendle Education Trust, said: “The Macmillan coffee mornings are one of the highlights of our fundraising efforts each year and we are absolutely delighted with how much we have managed to raise for a very deserving charity.

"It was a real challenge but I managed to visit all five of our events and I was absolutely overwhelmed by the quality of cakes produced by our staff and students and by the support they were shown by family, friends and the local community – a huge well done to everyone involved.”
