Harrison Reed will train today after coming off in the weekend win over Leeds United.

Reed was replaced with just over 20 minutes to go with a tight groin which had put his place for tomorrow’s trip to Swansea City in doubt.

But boss Tony Mowbray reported positive news at his press conference ahead of the trip to the Liberty Stadium.

The Southampton loanee has started each of the last five Championship fixtures and impressed on the right side of midfield.

“He’s going to train today,” Mowbray said of the 23-year-old.

“Harrison Reed, his personality and character he wants to do really well and has bought in to this group and squad of players.

“He’s enjoying his football, he’s part and parcel of what this group do.

“He had a bit of soreness but from the effort he puts in and the yardage he covers in games, he just tightened up a little bit.

“Over the weekend it’s relaxed and settled down and he feels fine.

“We’ll see how he is on Tuesday morning.”

Reed has played the majority of his football at Rovers on the right side of midfield, rather than his favoured central role.

He also played right wing-back in the second half at Bolton, a position he regularly occupied during a season-long loan at Norwich last term.

“The versatility was one of the reasons he’s here,” Mowbray said.

“He played half a season at right back last year and with allowing Paul Caddis to leave the building, right back was something we needed half a cover on.

“We have Elliott Bennett, but we also have Harrison who can also play there without any trouble at all.

“Sometimes you need versatile footballers and I think Harrison Reed is that.

“His best position in my mind would be central midfield because of his ability and composure on the ball, his mobility, his tenacity, yet he can easily play wide on both sides, full back, he’s just a good footballer with a lot of energy and talent and generally good footballers can play in a variety of positions.”

While enjoying life on the pitch, around the training ground there is one area Reed might need to improve.

Mowbray added: “I notice on the board when they’re playing pool he’s getting beaten on a regular basis! But he’s a real big part of this group.”
