NOTHING to do this weekend? Why not try one of these exciting events that are taking place across East Lancashire.

Shores Hey Farm off Halifax Road near Briercliffe, is holding a 'Helga's monster trail' event.

Youngsters can help find different parts of Helga the monster in time for her party at the farm, entry is £2 and the sessions will tale place between 11am and 4pm.

A Halloween Dog Show, raising funds for the Horse and Pony Protection Association, will also take place at the farm from 11am to 3pm on Sunday.

Burnley Mechanics is holding an American wrestling show on Saturday, tickets cost £12ickets: £12 each, £10 for concessions and a family of four is £36.

Everyone is invited to take part in a singing performance at St Silas church for a performance of Faure's Requiem, conducted by Sam Hudson, director of music at Blackburn Cathedral on Saturday.

A rehearsal will take place at 2pm followed by light refreshments with the performance at 6pm.

A still life drawing and collage workshop will take place at the Helmshore Mills Textile Museum between 1pm and 3pm.

The class, called 'shade and shadows' will cover how to make the illusion of solid objects using the rules and effects of shadows.

The museum complex had been closed apart from school visits following budget cuts in 2016, but Lancashire County Council's cabinet voted to reopen the mill.

Cllr Peter Buckley, Lancashire County Council's cabinet member for community and cultural services, said: "It is a real privilege to be able to welcome people to Helmshore Mills Textiles Museum again.

"It is a really fascinating place which gives an amazing insight into the cotton industry in Lancashire.

"We are really proud of the museum and want to share its history with as many people as possible, so I really would encourage people to come along."
