Emergency services were called to a two-car smash on the Grane Road this evening.

Fire crews from Rawtenstall and one appliance from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service attended the incident close to the Duke of Wellington pub just before 6pm on Thursday October 18.

A fire service spokesman said: "We were called to a collision involving two vehicles on Grane Road at 5.45pm.

"A red Audi A3 had crashed into the back of another car.

"On arrival, both drivers were out of their vehicles and were being treated by paramedics."

It is believed the female driver of the Audi had sustained an injury to her lip, while the driver of the other vehicle, also a female, was being treated at the scene for minor injuries to her back and neck.

Nobody is thought to have been seriously injured as a result of the crash.

The spokesman said: "We were in attendance at the incident for around one hour and assisted in controlling the flow of traffic until the police arrived."

Traffic was delayed for a short time until both cars were recovered by the police in order to clear the road.
