BEN Brereton is still waiting for a first Championship start in a Rovers shirt, but says he’s relishing the prospect of learning every day in training.

Enjoying his football is key for the 19-year-old whose move from Nottingham Forest will be made permanent in January.

The attacker wasn’t involved with England Under-20s during the recent international break, having been called up in September, so has had further opportunity to settle in to his surroundings in East Lancashire.

Brereton opted to leave Forest in search of regular football having failed to make a Championship squad this season at the City Ground.

And on life at Rovers he said: “I’m enjoying it and learning from the boys every day on and off the pitch.

“I’m enjoying living up here, different people, different scenery and fitting in well.

“When I wake up every day I look forward to coming in to training and getting used to the way the manager is wanting us to play.

“Getting up and looking forward to playing football is the main thing for me and that’s what I’m doing.”

Ewood Park manager Tony Mowbray has never been one to throw his new signings straight in, with a number of the summer additions still waiting to become regulars in the starting line-up.

Brereton is in that mix having made five appearances in all since joining, including a start in the Carabao Cup defeat at Bournemouth last month.

On working under Mowbray, Brereton added: “I feel like he really knows what he wants players to do and the players buy in to what he’s wanting and there’s a real togetherness.

“You can see that on and off the pitch, he’s really got a good set of lads here and I’m gelling now which is good.

“He’s a great manager, he will tell you what he wants and when you’re doing it right and when you’re doing it wrong.

“It’s a good place to be at the moment and I’m really happy to be here.”
