KENDAL Rotary Club members have just planted their 100,000th crocus bulb in the town.

Every year, the club plants purple and yellow crocus bulbs around Kendal. The aim initially was to celebrate and commemorate Rotary’s commitment to eradicate Polio worldwide.

Planting has taken place each year since 2012, unded by ‘Kendal in Bloom’ and Kendal Town Council.

Bulbs have been planted on Windermere Road, Burton Road, Parkside Road, Blackhall Road, Shap Road, Milnthorpe Road and this year in October on Aynam Road.

This year the club reached the total of 100,000 bulbs planted and to mark the achievement Mayor of Kendal Guy Tirvengadum attended to congratulate the club

The total eradication of polio is now almost complete and, says the club, just needs one last push to finish the task.
