TRIBUTES have been paid to a stabbed father-of-two as police launch a murder investigation into his death.

Tarro ‘Taz’ Grogan, 29, has been named by police as the victim of a brutal stabbing on a Roe Lee estate on Sunday morning.

Police were called at 10am by the ambulance service.

Lancashire Telegraph:

Paramedics battled to save Mr Grogan in Peridot Close but he died at the scene.

Neighbours said there had been a lot of trouble on the estate in the past six months but nothing on this level.

Mr Grogan’s father collapsed on the ground in tears when police told him his son had been killed.

Four people have now been arrested on suspicion of murder and are currently in custody.

They are a 26 year old man, a 28 year old man, a 29 year old man and a 39 year old woman.

Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Willis, of the Force Major Investigation Team: “We have launched a major investigation after Mr Grogan sadly lost his life during this incident and my thoughts are with his family and friends. Specially trained officers will be offering them our support.

“I would appeal for anyone with information to contact us, in particular I would like to speak to anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the Peridot Close area in the hours before the ambulance was called at about 10am today or in the immediate aftermath.”

Lancashire Telegraph:

A woman, 55, who lives nearby said: “It’s very shocking for this to happen. It has been terrible here the last six months. There’s been a few incidents including an old woman who was beaten up. It’s just so shocking.”

A resident who lives nearby and was walking his dog at the time said: “There was lots of shouting ‘wait there, wait there’ and next thing police cars were everywhere and an air ambulance. It was pretty scary.”

One neighbour said: “I saw the moment police told the man’s dad his son had died. He collapsed on the ground.”

Lancashire Telegraph:

A 53-year-old neighbour said he was shocked by the incident.

He added: “We live accross the estate. When we looked out of the window this morning just after waking up we saw an ambulance here. It’s a bit of a shock to take in what’s happened. I worry for my son living here. I have to give him a phone call every day on my way home to make sure he’s ok.”

Tributes poured in for Mr Grogan, a labourer and fitness fanatic who had taken part in cage fighting and mixed martial arts bouts.

He took part in FCC – or Full Contact Contender – mixed martial arts fights.
