A WARNING has been issued to parents after a 13-year-old girl was approached by a man near a school.

The incident happened at around 7.30pm on Wednesday close to Rhyddings Business and Enterprise School, Haworth Street, Oswaldtwistle.

Police said the girl was approached by a man who asked her to stop and talk to him several times. She ran off and he did not chase her.

The man is described as being between 20 and 30-years-old, small and wearing Adidas tracksuit bottoms. No arrest has been made.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting log 0442 of October 11.

This incident is the latest in a series near the school and sparked Rhyddings headteacher Andrew Williams sending a safeguarding letter to parents warning them to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police.

On October 2 a letter was sent out to parents after a 15-year-old girl was approached by a naked man in Harvey Street, Oswaldtwistle at around 8.20am.He is described as of medium build with collar-length black hair and a stubbly beard.

Meanwhile on September 27 a 14-year-old girl from the same school was touched on the bottom by a man in Town Bent Lane, Oswaldtwistle.
