PLANS have been lodged to convert a newly built industrial unit into a training facility for college students.
Burnley College has applied to the council for permission for change of use for Unit 7, Evolve, Vision Park,
The college is proposing to use the unit for training students in warehousing and manufacturing, including learning to operate a fork-lift truck, picking and packing goods and elements of product assembly.
College bosses say the impact on traffic would be minimal because of good public transport links and cycle routes.
It also has buses bringing students directly to the main college campus next door to the Vision Park and dropping them on-site.
If plans are approved, there will be a maximum of two classes with 12 students in each at any time and three teaching staff on site.
