TWO men have been arrested following an attempted murder in Blackburn.

The arrests came after a 22-year-old man was found with several stab wounds in Ballantrae Road at 11.15pm on Sunday.

While en route to the scene police found a Kia Picanto, which had been involved in a crash with a Ford Transit van in Rothesay Road, Blackburn.

Inside the Kia, which had been abandoned by its occupants, officers found a weapon, which is thought to have been used in the stabbing.

The occupants of the Kia, a 25-year-old man from Blackburn and a 27-year-old man from Rishton, were traced by police and arrested in connection with the attempted murder. They have been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Detectives believe the stabbing and crash are linked.
