A MAN with a long-standing drug problem continued to offend to fund his habit despite being made subject to a suspended prison sentence.
Blackburn magistrates heard the first offence came just days after the order had been imposed on Neil Morton.
Morton, 47, of Wellington Street, Accrington, pleaded guilty to stealing razors worth £68 from Superdrug and coffee worth £30 from Poundland.
He was jailed for two weeks for the offences and a further four weeks of the suspended sentence activated.
Gareth Price, defending, said his client had a long-standing heroin problem and at the time of the offences his methadone prescription had been interrupted.
"He is keen to get back on methadone so he can avoid illegal drugs and avoid shoplifting," said Mr Price.
