THINK again if you were about to pull your winter woollies out of storage this week as you might not need them just yet.

Parts of Lancashire could bake in up to 21 degrees on Wednesday, a stark contrast to the almost freezing temperatures seen over the weekend.

This news comes as the latest long-range forecasts from the Met Office show that October could be unseasonably warm, before a colder front may bring freezing temperatures moving into November.

A spokesman for the Met Office said: "Northwest England will be breezy and mostly dry and cloudy on Monday.

"A few breaks in the cloud will let warm sunshine through, particularly in the south of the region with temperatures on Monday reaching a maximum temperature of 18 °C."

But come Wednesday forecasters are predicting temperatures of up to 21 degrees.

The spokesman continued: "Tuesday will be dry and breezy, though probably brighter than Monday.

"Wednesday will be sunny and warm. Thursday will be warm too, though the odd shower is possible."

Looks like its not time to pull out the scarves just yet!
