Despite making it through to the coveted six chair challenge last week, X Factor hopeful Nathan Grisdale was booted off the ITV talent competition last night after failing to impress his mentor.

The 23-year old singer from Blackburn was one of the first to perform on last week's show and was given a seat by judge, Louis Tomlinson.

But viewers were left hanging at the end of Sunday's episode when the show was stopped and audiences were told they'd have to wait until this week to find out if Nathan had made it through to judges' houses.

In a cruel twist of fate, none of which was aired, Nathan gained his seat back but was controversially told his time in the competition had come to an end, after losing out to J-Sol and Thomas Pound.

Posting on Twitter after the show, Nathan said: "I just want to say thanks so much for all the amazing support.

"I actually sang another song and fought my hardest to get a seat back and got my seat back but it has been edited out which is gutted cause I put my heart into it.

"I won my chair back and then lost it again."

The acts who made it through to the next round, getting the chance to perform at Louis Tomlinson's house in Ibiza, are, Anthony Russell, Armstrong Martins, Brendan Murray, Dalton Andre Harris, J-Sol, and Thomas Pound.
