A SERVING soldier made the "foolish" decision to drive home after a night out in Darwen.
Blackburn magistrates heard Adam Christian Davies was more than double the legal drink drive limit when he was stopped in the early hours of the morning.
Davies, 25, of Allerton Close, Darwen, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.
He was fined £323 with £85 costs and a £32 victim surcharge and banned from driving for 18 months.
Imran Hussain, defending, said Davies had driven into the town centre and at the end of the night decided to move it to outside his mum's house.
"He is currently a team commander but as a result of this offence will be reduced to a Kingsman," said Mr Hussain.
