BLACKBURN businesswoman Camilla Ainsworth was on the losing team in the first episode of The Apprentice – but escaped a boardroom grilling from Lord Sugar.

Instead it was former Shameless actress Sarah Byrne, who also has East Lancs links, who was fired by the business supremo in the opening episode.

Blasted by Lord Sugar for being argumentative, the ex-partner of fellow cast member Burnley-born Jody Latham, lost out in the boardroom.

Meanwhile, quality controller Rick Monk, from Chorley, starred for the winning boys team as the candidates travelled to Malta for the first challenge.

The remaining 15 hopefuls will be whittled down over the next 12 weeks until only one remains.

For the first task, under the scrutiny of Baroness Brady and Claude Littner, teams jetted off to the Maltese capital Valletta on a shopping spree, challenged to bag nine items for the lowest possible prices, before returning to the boardroom to face Lord Sugar.
