A MAN who turned up at his former partner’s home and damaged a window, despite being subject to a restraining order, has been jailed.

Blackburn magistrates heard the victim claimed she was terrified of Ryan Christopher Jackson and said the broken glass could have injured their child if she had been sitting in front of the television, as she often did.

But Gareth Price, defending, said his client told a different tale of the state of the relationship and events leading up to the incident.

Jackson, 32, of Leyburn Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to damaging a window and breach of a restraining order.

He was jailed for 12 weeks with a further six weeks for being in breach of a suspended prison sentence imposed for offences involving the same victim.

Alex Mann, prosecuting, said the victim described Jackson as angry and in a “bad state of mind”.

“She said she was really scared of him due to previous incidents which she hadn’t always reported to the police,” said Mrs Mann.

“On this occasion she did ring the police and she told him she was doing that. He responded by smashing the window.

“She is at her wits' end and is now saying she is considering moving home to get away from him,” said Mrs Mann.

Mr Price said the woman’s claim that she was scared and considering moving was at odds with evidence he had been shown.

“My client has kept a log of calls and contact between them and forwarded that to his sister who, in turn, has forwarded it to me,” said Mr Price.

“There are messages from her inviting him round, telling him she loves him and talking about rebuilding the relationship. There are amorous photographs of the two of them on nights out together.

“All this goes against the version of events she has given,” said Mr Price.

“It may be significant this all happened a few days after he had made a formal application to the courts for access to their child.”

Mr Price said Jackson had been invited to the house but when he got there she refused to let him in. There was a row and he lost his temper.
