A MAN who decided to drive after a night out drinking crashed into iron gates after being sent on a detour because of road works.
Blackburn magistrates heard Kyle Brooks admitted to police he had taken a wrong turn while driving too fast.
Brooks, 21, of Moor Lane, Darwen, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.
He was fined £120 with £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge.
He was banned from driving for 20 months after the magistrates heard he gave a reading of 74 against the legal limit of 35.
Imran Hussain, defending, said his client accepted he had made a very foolish decision to drive.
