A FOOD warehouse which will sell 'great value' wholesale goods opened its doors this week.

The Food Warehouse, which already has 75 stores across Britain, is part of the Iceland Food Group and will offer a wide range of frozen, chilled and fresh groceries.

More than three quarters of a million pounds has been invested in bringing the new shop to The Peel Centre in Blackburn and the 11,000 square foot shop has created 30 new jobs in the area.

A spokesperson for the shop said: "The Food Warehouse combines the convenience of bulk buying with great value fresh, frozen and ambient food deals across more than 3,000 product lines, as well as including exclusive ‘when it’s gone, it’s gone’ deals on a great selection of homeware items."

Managing Director Richard Walker, said: “We’re delighted to have opened our new store in Blackburn. The Food Warehouse is an innovative store format, responding to the changing needs of shoppers by offering amazing bulk-buy deals and homeware offers alongside a fantastic range of frozen, fresh and chilled foods.”

The Blackburn store manager Chris Jacobs, said: “Our opening day has been great fun for the whole family and our team are so excited to welcome the people of Blackburn to our brand new store.”

Every customer who visited the store on its opening day, Tuesday 2, was entered in a free prize draw.
