A WEEK after he was made subject to a community order a man went into Debenhams and stole £560 worth of fragrances.

Blackburn magistrates heard that after being released on bail Paul Robert Bradshaw went shoplifting again, stealing £40 worth of aftershave from TK Max.

Bradshaw, 40, of St Peter Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to two charges of shoplifting.

He was sentenced to nine weeks in prison suspended for 12 months and ordered to pay £85 victim surcharge.

Ian Huggan, defending, said his client had underlying drink problems which had been referred to the substance misuse charity, Inspire.

"When a community order is made it doesn't immediately cure the problem," said Mr Huggan.

"It takes time and effort and hopefully things are changing."
