THE sound of laughter echoed around a cricket club during a television-inspired game show fundraiser.

An It's A Knockout-style fun day took place at the Cherry Tree Cricket Club in Blackburn.

Nine teams battled it out over a variety of challenges at the Preston Old Road site.

Challenges included team-mates had to carefully pass water-filled sponges to each other, before running in giant costumes and jump over inflatable obstacles.

As well as the activities there was cupcake stalls and refreshments available.

The event was raising money for the Theo’s Warriors charity, which was set up by family of Blackburn schoolboy Theo Power, who successfully battled a rare form of child cancer.

Feniscowles Primary School pupil Theo was diagnosed with advanced neuroblastoma in July 2015 but responded well to various treatments.

A team from the cricket club, as well as businesses in Blackburn, are taking part.

Laura Cook, from Blackburn, who came down to support the teams, said: "The costumes were hilarious and the challenges were really funny.

"It's good to see the event had lots of people here and there was great support.

"I remember watching the programme as a child too."

The original programme aired on BBC1 in 1966 and featured teams representing a town or city competing tasks in crazy costumes.

Graham Jordan, one of the trustees of Theo's Warriors, said: "It was a fantastic day and I think everyone enjoyed themselves.

"It was a bit cold but everyone battled through.

"We’ve got a member of the charity running the London Marathon for us and this is one of the ways we are helping her raise money.

"The money will go along way and help a lot of people.

"I would like to thank all the participants who took part, they were excellent.

"I'd also like to thank everyone who came along to support us on the day."
