A NEW Blackburn lingerie shop has started with a bang - after providing garments for a former Coronation Street star's wedding.

And one-time Rovers Return landlady Bet Lynch shunned her trademark leopard print when choosing her wedding lingerie at Eve Lingerie in Fleming Square.

Julie Goodyear, who played the feisty pint puller in the hit ITV soap, called on the shop's services thanks to celebrity OK! Magazine.

After 11 years together, Julie and her partner Scott Brand tied the knot at Hoar Cross Hall in Staffordshire.

The celebrity wedding was to be covered in OK and its wedding co-ordinator, Marie Miller contacted the store to ask them to do the honours.

Eve Lingerie owner Janet Bailey said she was approached by Marie, whose mother had been to the shop for a fitting.

The mum-of-three added: "She contacted me and asked if I would be interested in doing the underwear for a celebrity wedding but couldn't say who it was.

"I was delighted to have been asked because she's famous for her boobs having worked behind the bar at the Rovers Returns pulling pints.

"I had only been open a week and it was funny because we have some animal print underwear that's really in fashion at the moment and a customer said that would suit Bet Lynch.

"However she didn't go for that, she went for the traditional white wedding underwear."

Eve Lingerie was credited in OK Magazine and Janet said the orders have since been rolling in.

Janet, who lives in Darwen, with husband Kevin, said: "Julie phoned me to say it was fantastic and has asked if I would close the shop for her to come to me in the future, which is just brilliant for a small independent shop.

"It's been a real bonus for me. It was brilliant publicity and just goes to show you never know who is going to come through your doors. "
