A Ghostbusters flag hung outside an arts centre has been causing passers-by to do a double take.

But it's not really to do with the hit 1980s film but a play very loosely based on the title.

Halloween play Ghostbusted is for children aged from seven to nine, and will be put on by the Oswaldtwistle Civic Arts Centre on Friday October 26, from 6pm.

Usually, Halloween is a time when young people take part in trick or treating, or other typical festivities. But the centre would like to offer something different to the youngsters, without taking the fun out of it.

Creative director and playwright, Gayle Knight, said: "It's a spoof homage to the original.

2A mysterious object has been brought over to the Civic from New York as a prop in a play.

"Since its arrival, strange things have been happening in the theatre and all around Oswaldtwistle. The only people who can help are the Ghostbusted team."

The event manager, Emma Holden, 29, of Oswaldtwistle, said: "We write our own plays usually, and wanted to offer something different to the typical things on.

"Our play is only loosely based on Ghostbusters, and it's a pantomime so it's a silly comedy style young children will enjoy."

Tickets will cost £8 for entry.
