VODAFONE customers in a Ribble Valley village are to get better mobile phone connections and faster internet connections.

Residents and businesses in and visitors to Mellor are now able enjoy faster 4G mobile data speeds to download content and stream music and video without buffering after recent improvements to the company's network.

Handsets using Vodafone will also receive a more reliable 3G voice signal,

The latest improvements to the company's network mean 99 per cent of its customers in Lancashire can now access 4G coverage on their mobile device, smartphones or tablets.

Vodafone UK’s Chief Technology Officer Scott Petty said: “Mobile connectivity plays a vital role in supporting the economy and keeping communities in touch.

“We are committed to continuing with our improvements across the country so more customers can enjoy our network wherever they go.”

A Vodafone spokesman said: "Residents and businesses of Mellor will be able to enjoy fast access to the latest news, music and videos on their mobile device, smartphones or tablets.

"Visitors to Mellor will benefit with less time spent waiting for web pages containing maps and visitor information to load.

"Voice coverage improvements will bring clearer conversations, fewer dropped calls and a faster connection time.
