AN MP has backed calls for a general election on the final Brexit deal.

Blackburn MP Kate Hollern says she supports calls in the Labour Party for a 'people's vote' on Brexit.

Her comments have come alongside the Labour's annual party conference, which is being held in Liverpool.

Ms Hollern said: "I do not want to overturn the result of the referendum but at the same time the way Theresa May has handled it so far could leave us in a terrible situation.

"We think there should be a general election on the final deal.

"We would hope to see a clear plan but at the moment the Chequers proposal is very worrying for business rates and currency rates.

"There is still a lot to discuss and I think all options should be left on the table."

Labour members today (September 25) are expected to vote to keep 'all options on the table' on Brexit, including the potential of campaigning for a new referendum.
