ROLLS-ROYCE'S fan blade factories in Pendle are set to be involved in a major new research scheme.
Today the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council announced seven new Prosperity Partnerships linking leading companies with the UK's research base.
Aerospace giant Rolls Royce will work with Edinburgh University to produce the world's first high-fidelity virtual simulation of a complete gas-turbine engine during operation.
It will will require breakthroughs from fundamental engineering to computational science research.
The firm has two factories in Barnoldswick, Bankfield and Ghyll Brow, involved with turbine manufacture..
Professor Philip Nelson, EPSRC’s Executive Chair said: “We are confident that these projects will deliver real benefits.”
