A ‘SUPERSTAR’ fundraiser has helped raise over £800 for the Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

Friends and family of Mandy Wilson put on an event at Low Moor Club in Clitheroe and raised £819 for the charity.

Mrs Wilson, who was diagnosed with cancer eight years ago, has relentlessly fundraised for the Rosemere by hosting events such as coffee mornings and quiz nights.

Despite being given the all clear a few years ago, Mrs Wilson was recently told her cancer had returned.

Close friend, Julie Burgess, who helped organise the event said: “Mandy usually hosts at least two events a year at home, and she wanted to put on a fundraiser this year, but with not being too well, we decided to have it at Low Moor Club instead.”

The fundraising evening, which was held in August, made £500 in its first hour as guests gathered to enjoy nibbles and chance their luck on the tombola.

Louise Grant, Rosemere Cancer Foundation’s fundraising co-ordinator, said: “She’s one of our superstars and the turn-out for her Low Moor Club event is testament to the high esteem in which she’s held not just by us but also by all those who are lucky enough to know her.”
