A SCHEME aimed at saving Todmorden from flooding has now been completed.
It has been carried out by the Environment Agency, with backing from Calderdale MBC, and has taken over a year to complete. Flood alleviation work has centred on Centre Vale Park which has now reopened.
In a report to Calderdale councillors, the regeneration and development director, Ian Thompson, said: "All types of infra-structure including road, railways, gas, water, electricity foot-paths and communi-cations can be affected by floods.
"Limited resources can be called on, but the highways stand-by arrangement is just one member of staff with one contractor for highways and one for street lighting.
"Staff not normally involved often assist, but stand-by arrange-ments, land drainage investigation and planning advice are areas that would benefit from additional resources."
