Dorothy Pickstone who until recently was a tutor on the programme says; "We aim to help people live a more comfortable, easier and fulfilling life."

"The key is how you deal with your own health condition. It's marvellous to see what a difference the classes can make to a person's approach to life. You see shy withdrawn people coming cut of their shell. We often say that the class starts as a group of strangers but ends as a group of friends. People often go on to keep in touch with each other after the classes have ended."

If you have a long-term condition such as heart problems, diabetes, arthritis or back pain then a free six week course starts at the Mary Hindle Centre, Bury Road on the afternoon of Monday, 24th September.

Participants will be advised how to manage pain, deal with depression and understand medication and treatments.
