A CONCERT marking the 100th anniversary of the First World War will be held later this year.

Rossendale Council's annual Festival of Remembrance will be extra special this year as people say "thank you" to the First World War generation.

The concert is supporting the Royal British Legion’s #ThankYou100 campaign to mark the centenary of the end of the First Word War.

Cllr Alyson Barnes, leader of Rossendale council, said: "We are proud to be supporting the #ThankYou100 campaign which is remembering the generation who lived through this tragic time – from those who served and sacrificed their lives to the women who supported the war effort and children who lost parents."

The event will feature Haslingden Concert Band and the Veterans In Communities Singing Group and will be held at St Peter's Church, on Helmshore Road, Haslingden from 3pm on November 4.

Admission is free with donations in aid of the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
