A PATIENT was air lifted to hospital after an incident in Halliwell on Tuesday evening.

Paramedics and ambulance staff turned out to Battenberg Road shortly before 7pm on Tuesday.

Residents and staff at nearby shops reported seeing the air ambulance land at the Victory Reform Club, in Chorley Old Road.

A patient was taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital.

A resident said: "The air ambulance landed at the Victoria Street car park.

"There were two ambulances as well.

"They came straight into Chorley Old Road and into Battenberg Road."

Another resident said: "We have heard reports that someone has suffered a head injury."

A spokeswoman for the North West Ambulance Service said: "We were called to Battenberg Road.

"We took a patient to the Royal Bolton Hospital.

"We attended with the ambulance, rapid response vehicle and air ambulance."
