A TEENAGE girl broke both her wrists when she fell from a rope swing over an Oswaldtwistle waterway last night.
Crews from Hyndburn and Darwen fire stations were alerted when the youngster plunged 10 feet from the swing, erected in a tree over a culvert near Merlin Drive.
The water in the culvert was not deep and she was in no immediate danger but a river rescue team was on standby just in case.
Firefighters and paramedics worked together to attach the girl to a stretcher, which was then hauled up the banks of the culvert up two ladders.
Watch manager John Pinner, of Hyndburn station, said the girl was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital for treatment.
