AN alcoholic who could drink 30 cans in a day bit his partner’s ear during a drink-fuelled attack.

Blackburn magistrates heard Jason Ronnie Morgan dragged her off the sofa by her hair and then banged her head against a wall.

After getting his partner in a headlock he bit her ear, causing a 3cm split in her lobe, before throwing her out of the house and locking the door.

Morgan, 39, of Sapphire Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm.

He was sent in custody to Preston Crown Court to be sentenced after the magistrates ruled their powers were insufficient.

Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said Morgan was a drinker who would consume 30 cans in a day if he started early.

On the day of the offence he had been drinking all day and threatened to smash her face in.

“She doesn’t drink at all and made herself a cup of coffee,” said Miss Allan.

“As she was sitting on the sofa he grabbed her by the hair and dragged her off.”

Morgan banged his partner’s head against the wall and as he released her from a headlock bit her ear.

“She felt his teeth in her ear and described the pain as excruciating,” said Miss Allan.

“Her right ear lobe was torn and she also suffered a black eye and bumps and bruises to her forehead.”

Chris Evans, defending, said his client was realistic enough to know that he was facing a custodial sentence.

“He admits he had been drinking excessively and regrets what took place,” said Mr Evans.

“It is an argument that shouldn’t have happened."
