A WOMAN bit her sister on the cheek when they fell out and started fighting after a night out together.

Blackburn magistrates heard the victim had been left conscious of her appearance and unwilling to go out of the house.

She told police the attack had been unprovoked.

"I did not expect my sister to commit such an assault on me," she said.

"I had bite marks on my face and hand and bruising all over my body."

She said she and her sister had made up since the incident.

Samantha Threlfall, 24, of Bonsall Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to assaulting Kerry Howard causing her actual bodily harm.

She was made subject to a community order for 18 months with 30 days rehabilitation activity requirement and ordered to pay £400 compensation to her sister.

Parveen Akhtar, prosecuting, said the sisters had been out in Burnley town centre . An argument started and then the two women began to fight.

"The aggrieved was punched a number of times before she retreated into a taxi office," said Miss Akhtar.

"She was followed by the defendant who attacked her again. CCTV shows her biting her sister on the cheek."

Gareth Price, defending, said his client, who had no previous convictions, was deeply remorseful about the incident.
